They are peaceful towards other species but may not be the best choice in general community aquariums due to their small size and aggressive interactions between rival males. They do best when kept alone or with similarly-sized, active species. Though they are a rasbora, they seem to exhibit shoaling behaviour rather than schooling behaviour.
