Should I get a rabbit hutch or a cage?

A rabbit hutch is best for outdoor use, offering weather protection and space to move around. If your rabbit is indoors full-time, a rabbit cage is usually more compact and easier to clean. In either case, choosing the largest size you can is always best — your rabbit will appreciate the extra space.

Are your rabbit houses weatherproof?

Yes! All our rabbit hutches are built for New Zealand’s climate, with solid timber frames, raised bases, and sloped roofing to help rain run off. For extra shelter, place them somewhere with natural wind cover. 

What size cage is suitable for a rat?

Rats are energetic and intelligent animals that need plenty of room to climb, explore and play. The bigger the cage, the better. Look for one with vertical space and multiple levels so they can make the most of it. The cages we stock come with shelves, ramps and sturdy wire sides, with enough room to add hammocks, tunnels and other enrichment to keep your rats happy and healthy.

What’s the difference between raised and floor-level hutches?

Raised rabbit hutches help with airflow and keep pets off cold or wet ground. Floor-level hutches can offer easier access for children or indoor use. It all depends on your setup and climate.
