Golden eye cichlids are a small, peaceful species. They are best housed with other small, peaceful fish, particularly top dwellers such as rasboras. The golden eye cichlids, while generally peaceful, may become aggressive towards tankmates when breeding, for this reason it is best to avoid housing them with slower moving bottom and mid dwelling fish.
Where possible, it is best to house them in small groups with one male to several females.
