Bettas can be aggressive (especially males) and caution should be taken with tank mates. Never house multiple males together. Bettas do best in well planted, shady aquariums with plenty of surface cover in the form of stem plants or floating plants. Bettas naturally come from slow moving waters so keeping flow in the aquarium low is best. Bettas are also excellent jumpers so a lid on the aquarium is a must.
