Platies are super peaceful and can be kept with most community species. When housing males and females in the same tank it is best to have more females than males to spread out the attention of potentially relentless males. As Platies are a livebearer, they release free swimming fry and breed very easily, batches of fry will be continual.

All livebearers can be sexed via the anal fin, males will have a gonopodium which looks like a spike, where as females will have a triangle fin.
