Swordtails come in a wide range of colours. The males can be easily identified by their signature sword-like tail (though this isn't always 100% accurate). Swordtails are incredibly hardy amd can adapt to thrive in a wide range of water conditions. As they are a livebearer their fry come out free swimming and they are prolific breeders. It is best to keep swordtails in groups with a ratio of 1 male to at least 2 females.
All livebearers can be sexed via the anal fin, males will have a gonopodium which looks like a spike, where as females will have a triangle fin.
